Summary: On a recent around-the-world solo adventure, I booked several days at The Wyndham in Singapore. The location was quite good and the view from my room was exceptional. The property itself is a little tired and could benefit from an extensive renovation. Elevator logic was poor and every trip on the lift required much patience. Check in took forever - in fact ALL interactions with front desk were unnecessarily long. They would type and peer the screen and type and peer at the screen. It was like stepping back to the late 80s. Just weird how much friction there was when dealing with the desk. I opted for an upgrade and was quoted roughly $100 a night for each of four nights. The staff member then told me “that will be $1100 dollars.” I asked “for four nights?” He responded “yes, $100 for each night.” I questioned his total and he said “there are taxes.” I challenged his math and he went back to typing and peering and typing and peering and said “my bad, that will be $460”. Every interaction with staff was like this. Just weird. Of ALL the hotels I have stayed at during the course of this adventure, this was the least satisfying. I had other unresolved issues that they were unwilling to correct - but I don’t care to spend any more time thinking about this place. Bottom line - I would NOT recommend staying here if you are looking for even BASIC luxury level accommodations. It’s not that kind of place.
